Welcome to the award-winning Guardhouse Cafe.
Welcome to the award-winning Guardhouse Cafe. We offer superb, locally-sourced food and drink in one of the South Coast’s most stunning locations, Berry Head Nature Reserve, with panoramic views over the South Devon Coastline.
Only a short walk from the car park, our cafe is open daily from 9am to 4pm.
We serve breakfast from 9am – 11:30am and lunch from 12 – 3pm.
Drinks, ice creams, cakes and Devonshire cream teas are available through to closing time.
Car Parking Update
Since the demise of Torbay Coast and Countryside Trust in autumn 2025, Berry Head is now owned by Torbay Council. The car park has become a Pay and Display car park, and you should buy a ticket when you arrive. The tickets are a little cheaper than the previous TCCT prices. There are no longer cameras; occasionally a ticket inspector will visit to check valid tickets.
You can buy a ticket with coins, or with RingGo code 15884 – this is a start / stop RingGo car park so you only pay for the time you need.
Existing TCCT parking permits remain valid (if in date) until March 31st. All Torbay Council car parking permits are valid.
We are working with the council to create a replacement parking permit from April 1st.
