‘The Mitchell sisters’ were born in Torquay, Janet Bolland, Elaine Cavicchia and Lynne Peets. Also joined by an ‘adopted (Art) sister’ Vivienne Bryant. Vivienne is also a very talented artist and a welcome addition to their “sisterhood”. She takes the reins two days a week at the gallery and keeps the gallery open while they are on holiday.
They are all artists in their own right. In 2015 Lynne opened the Colours of Brixham Art Gallery at 48 Middle Street, and the COB sisters were created. Together they paint ever-new paintings for the gallery where they take it in turns to sell their collective work which includes, original paintings in oil, acrylic, watercolour, wool and mixed media, giclee’ top quality prints from their work, all framed or unframed, cards and little handmade crafty, quirky pieces.
The three sisters prefer to paint en plien air, painting outside in front of a beautiful view.
This takes them to beautiful settings to spend the day with a picnic (maybe a bottle of wine) and the time to immerse themselves into their paintings. Interestingly they say “we come home with three very different takes on the scene!”
The gallery is a bright, friendly, non-intimidating space with as many art pieces as can be shoehorned into it!
You’ll need time to see it all!!
